Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech –Agouti –Azib n’ikiss
After an early transfer from Marrakech to Agouti (1850m) where we will meet our local crew (Cook and Muletters), before setting off for easy walk 3 to 4 hours to our campsite near the summer pastures of Azib n’Ikkis (2250m) on the way we pass through the typical Berber village of Ait Said and Across. Night in the Camp.
Day 2: Azib Nikiss – Tizi Oumskig – Tarkeddid Plateau
This is a short day (4 to 5 Hours) but quite demanding, involving the ascent of the Oumskig pass (2909m) and the very steep aghouwri pass (3400m) which provides magnificent views across the surrounding area. We then follow a steep, zigzag path down to the Tarkeddid Plateau (2900m) where we spend the night. Night in the tent.
Day 3: Tarkeddid – Mgoun Summit – Tarkeddid
We leave early for the 5 hours climb to the summit. The ascent is not technically difficult, but at times it is steep and there are some places where the ridge is very narrow. The magnificent views from the summit make the effort worthwhile. To return we retrace our steps - a descent of about 3 hours.
Day 4: Arouss Gorge –Oulilimet – Aflafal
This is varied day walk, around the edge of Arouss Gorge down, along streams, rivers and an ascent to the Oumsoud pass (2969m). Our picnic lunch is in delightful meadow with a spring in the Oulilimt valley. We continue after lunch to follow the river until we reach the Ain aflafal refuge, where we will spend night in our camp. Approximately 7 to 8 hours walk.
Day 5: Aflafal –Tizi N,Ait Imi – Happy Valley
Early morning we return over the Ait Imi pass (2905m) to Tabant. At first the walking is easy through summer pastures, but as we approach the Ait Imi pass we start to climb, with a steep ascent at the end. From here we can see down into the M’Goun valley and on a clear day the village of Tabant. We arrive in the village of Ait Imi which is only 30 minutes from Tabant, where we will spend the night in a Berber house. 6 hours walk.
Day 6: Happy Valley – Ouzoud waterfalls – Marrakech
Transfer back to Marrakech in our way we visit the Ouzoud waterfalls where we will have lunch before we continue back to Marrakech.
