Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech-Imlil-Refuge
Transfer from Marrakech to the starting point; Imlil 1740m. Here you meet the guide and the mules to carry your baggage and food. You start your trek towards the Neltner refuge 3207m, stopping for lunch on the way and staying in the refuge or tents. In summer we will stay in tents and in winter we will stay in the mountain hut as it is too cold to sleep in the tents and there is also a lot of snow around. 5:30hwalk.
Day 2: Refuge-Toubkal peak 4167m-imlil
After an early breakfast we trek up to the highest peak in North Africa. There are nice views from the top where we will be able to see the desert on one side and where we started from on the other side. We will stay at the top for about 30 minutes or less (depending on the weather) and then trek down to the refuge for lunch and then back down to Imlil. 8 to 9 hours walk.
Please note that it is possible to stay one or two days around the villages before climbing just to acclimatize to the altitude.
